Anything Worth Having Is Worth Fighting For
Anything worth having is worth fighting for. That’s an old quote made by someone much smarter than me. But, old or not, it’s powerful and it’s true. If your job is worth having, then fight for it. If your children are worth having, then fight for them. If your marriage commitment is worth having, then fight for it. If your church is worth having, then fight for it. If your relationship with God is worth having, then fight for it! Anything worth having is worth fighting for!
We do need to learn how to fight. We just sang a song this past Sunday that said it pretty well. “The weapons we use are not bombs and guns, Worship is the way that the battle is won! Lift up your banner and shout! Praise Him for the Victory!” The Apostle Paul tells the church that it’s like this… “For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh (for the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but mighty before God to the casting down of strongholds), casting down imaginations, and every high thing that is exalted against the knowledge of God, and bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ;” (2 Corinthians 10:3-5 ASV)
I just saw a headline that said, “Shutting down America for the Covid Virus was the biggest mistake we have ever made. Though we had no choice in the matter, Let me also say along with that… Shutting down our churches was the biggest mistake we have ever made”. They forced it upon us because they were afraid that people would die. BUT, the truth is, People are dying because of the closure. They are dying physically and Spiritually.
You had no choice about the closing of your churches, but you DO HAVE A CHOICE about coming back to church. Don’t compound the first mistake by making a personal mistake of your own choosing. Understand this. The common cold is here to stay. The flu is here to stay. And Covid 19 is here to stay. We will have to choose to live with it and continue our lives or we can sequester ourselves away from God, the Church and Family and have a withered, wasted wilderness for the rest of our lives until Jesus comes.
But whatever way you choose to live out the rest of your days, understand this. Jesus didn’t purchase your salvation for you to live a weak, timid & fearful life, shadowed over by the darkness of faithlessness and fear. He calls us to be triumphant, victorious, filled with Praise and Joy! Let’s choose to live on the Hallelujah side! Come on and give God the praise that He deserves! We ARE on the winning side. Jesus is Coming Soon for a triumphant people who worship Him in Spirit and in Truth. Make sure you are one of them!
