Ready or not, Here I come!
It’s that special time of the year. It’s the season that has been given on our calendars designating this time of the year as the “Holidays”!
As is often the case, knowing what something is “NOT”, helps tremendously to understand what something actually “IS”. So, let me share briefly what the holidays are not. For instance, Thanksgiving is NOT turkey day. The holidays as a whole, are not that special time which has been designated to gobble until you wobble. It’s not the time when you have to spend money on things you can’t afford in order to give things to people that they don’t want, nor appreciate. It’s not about parades, and colored lights. It’s not about expensive wrapping paper, bows and glitter. It’s not about Christmas trees and parties and fireworks and eggnog or football playoffs. It’s not even about getting together with family and friends.
The holidays are not about going to church… at least, not in the traditional sense. It’s not about that once a year designated visit to the house of God. But if the holidays makes you think about church, then you just might be getting close.
The word Holiday, is a compilation of two words … “HOLY DAY”. The Holy Days are all about commemorating and worshipping our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. This should be the time which we give honor and glory to Him! It most certainly is NOT the time to neglect church. Let us gather ourselves together and give our Best Gift to Jesus Christ. Only you… can give that gift of your worship and your praise. During this season, I pray that you are blessed, thankful, happy. Above all I pray that you and yours are worshipful during these HOLY DAYS!
