Don’t Live Beneath Your Privilege
Too many people are living beneath the privileges that their birth right has purchased for them. If you are a born again child of God, the Word of God that birthed you, clearly declares that there are “given unto us exceedingly great and precious promises” (2 Peter 1:4). The problem is not that God is selective in whom He allows to receive His blessings. His Word clearly tells us that He is “no respecter of persons”. The Holy Spirit that operates all His gifts is for “whosoever will”. Some things have to be laid claim to! There is a portion of scripture that warns, “You do not have because you do not ask God.” (James 4:2). The same thing happens every day in a natural sense. Sometimes, there are some things that may belong to us that we cannot receive because we have not asked. We have the right to them. They have been paid in full. But we don’t have them and may not even know that they exist.
The National Association of Unclaimed Property Administrators (NAUPA) is a place that helps people CLAIM that which belongs to them, which they may not even know exists. Their website allows a person to conduct a multi-state search in a matter of seconds. It will tell of any unclaimed money that may be owed to you, but never paid. For you to get it, all you have to do is claim it. However, if you do not claim it, it reverts back to the federal government at some point.
In much the same way, there are promises in the Word of God that are FOR you. They have already been paid for by the blood of Jesus Christ. Many of them are yours for the asking. But you have to ask. You have to claim them. If we don’t recognize and lay claim to those things, then they will forever be lost to us. “Until now you have not asked for anything in my name. Ask and you will receive, and your joy will be complete.” (John 16:24 NIV). Don’t be content to live beneath the privileges that your birth right has purchased for you.
