Newton’s First Law
I am pretty sure that we weren’t paying that much attention while we were sitting in science class at school. There were too many other distractions. Things like how everybody else was dressed, watching my friend cut up in class, checking out that cute person of the opposite gender, hoping we would get something to eat again, SOON, or simply wondering if we were ever going to escape this boring science class.
That being the case… let me share with you Newton’s First Law of Motion.
I know that excites you. Right? But here it is anyway, “An object at rest stays at rest and an object in motion stays in motion with the same speed and in the same direction, unless acted upon by an unbalanced force.”
We need to know this because we are living in an unbalanced world with spiritual, emotional and physical forces that are continuously variable and constantly working against us. It is precisely because of this that none of us can live for God from yesterday’s blessings. Last week’s motivation won’t carry you through this week’s situations. Without a constant renewing from God, we will only get weaker and weaker, go slower and slower, and get farther and farther away from God. None of us can afford the luxury of missing church. Not only do we rob God of our worship, cheat our friends of our presence, cause our children to learn the same bad habit, we are also killing ourselves spiritually. AND THAT my friends is why we need to know Newton’s First Law. Oh, and by the way, he was only stating what our God had created in the first place. God’s way is always the best way.
